Creating a Validation Notice MMS Text Message Profile in ITMS

    • PDF

    Article summary

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for setting up a Validation Notice MMS text message profile in ITMS. This profile allows you to send validation notices as MMS messages with images, enhancing consumer communication. It uses an email template variable to generate and attach the image to the message.

    Important Update:

When using this process, links (that go to a URL page) within the email profile will not work in the MMS message. To address this, we now provide a default MMS Validation Notice that includes full URLs.

    New Default Profile Identifier:

    "SAMPLE_VALIDATION_NOTICE_MMS"

    Prerequisites:

Before creating the MMS validation notice, retrieve the following:

    1. The email vendor identifier

    2. The email template identifier for your validation notice

These identifiers are required to construct the variable that inserts the image into the MMS text message you will be using.

For more details on retrieving email identifiers, see Creating Email Profiles.

Considerations for MMS Text Validation Notices

    1. Links Replaced with URLs in MMS Images

    • A default email validation notice (SAMPLE_VALIDATION_NOTICE_MMS) is available for use in text messages.

    • This version replaces links with full URLs.

    2. Formatting Considerations

    • Italicized text in the validation notice image may cause font distortions in the final MMS.

    • If you experience formatting issues (e.g., distorted letters), remove italics from the email template.

Constructing the Variable for Image Inclusion

To include the image in your Text MMS message, you’ll need two identifiers:

    • Vendor Identifier – Identifies the email vendor.

    • Email Template Identifier – Identifies the specific email template for the validation notice.

    1. Locate the Vendor Identifier and Email Template Identifier:

      1. Go to Setup → Email → Vendors.

      2. Open the email vendor you plan to use.

      3. In the Vendor Email Template section, note the identifiers for the vendor and the specific email template.

        1. Example: If the Vendor Identifier is DEFAULT and the Email Template Identifier is SAMPLE_VALIDATION_NOTICE_MMS, then the constructed variable will be ${email.DEFAULT.SAMPLE_VALIDATION_NOTICE_MMS}.

        2. Image Displays Vendor Identifier and Email Identifier

    2. Construct the Variable:

      1. Format the variable as ${email.vendorIdentifier.templateIdentifier} using the identifiers retrieved.

      2. Example: ${email.DEFAULT.SAMPLE_VALIDATION_NOTICE_MMS}.

Creating the Validation Notice Text Profile

    2. Configure the Basic Profile Information

How ITMS Converts SMS to MMS

By incorporating a variable such as:

    ${email.emailvendorname.emailtemplatename}

ITMS automatically converts a standard SMS into an MMS, delivering the validation notice as an image.

For example: Using ${email.DEFAULT.SAMPLE_VALIDATION_NOTICE_MMS} in your template will automatically attach the validation notice image.

    4. Save and Test the Profile

    1. Click Save.

    2. Test the profile by sending the message to your phone to verify the correct display and format of the text and image.
