Overview
ACE users have access to a preview version of the new (HI) Helical Insight reporting interface. This feature allows users to explore and test how to create and customize reports using the connected metadata and self-service design tools.
There are two submenus that can be accessed from the Preview New Reporting Menu. They are HI Reports and Dashboards and New Hi Report. In the steps below we provide guidelines for using the New HI Report Submenu. In the near future we will provide guidelines for using the Hi Reports and Dashboards submenu.
Accessing the Preview to Create a New HI Report
Log in to the ACE application.
Navigate to Reports → Preview New Reporting → New HI Report
Selecting Columns for the Report
You can begin building your report by dragging and dropping the desired fields:
To find a field, type in the “search tables or columns” field in the upper left
Type “client code” and enter
See the tables where that field exists
Click the small arrow to the left of the table to see the fields in the table that match your search
To return to the list of all available tables, you can block and delete the previously searched value from the search tables and columns field
Drag available fields into Rows and Columns to define the data in your report
You can also right-click on a field under the table to access quick actions such as:
Add to Columns or Add to Rows
Add to Marks
Add to Filters
Once fields are placed, you’ll have access to data manipulation tools when you left click on the field where it is placed in a column or row, including:
Sorting
Aggregate functions
Apply Before Aggregate
Group By
Functions
Hide
Fetch and Hide
Generating a Basic Report
After you’ve selected your columns and rows:
Click the Generate icon (hover over icons in the upper right to identify “Generate”).
Your data will display in a table — this is your basic report view.
Toolbar Icons Options
At the top of the interface, you’ll find several key options:
Generate – Refreshes or regenerates the visualization after changes.
Save / Save As – Save or duplicate the current report.
Export – Export reports in CSV or Excel formats.
Cache Refresh – Updates your report with the latest database data.
Share – Share reports with other users.
Layout – Toggle visibility of metadata, tools, or field shelves.
Preview / Full Screen – View the report in a distraction-free mode.
Tutorial / Help / Notifications – Access in-app assistance and system updates.
