Understanding RI Core Visuals

Prev Next

RI Core Visuals are prebuilt RI Visuals included with ACE. They provide standardized operational, financial, and performance reporting without requiring users to create custom RI Visuals.

Like all RI Visuals, RI Core Visuals use the Rainmaker Insights reporting engine and can be run, previewed, and exported. Unlike custom RI Visuals,  RI Core Visual cannot be modified directly.

Locating RI Core Visuals

RI Core Visuals are organized within the Core folder in RI Visuals.

To locate an RI Core Visual:

  1. Go to Reports → RI Visuals.

  2. Expand the Core folder.

  3. Expand the appropriate category folder.

  4. Select the RI Core Visual you want to view.

Identifying an RI Core Visual

Each RI Core Visual includes information that helps identify its purpose and configuration.

The Visual list displays each RI Core Visual's:

  • Label

  • Identifier

When an RI Core Visual is opened, the Visual Details section displays:

  • Label

  • Identifier

  • Description

  • Scope

  • Role

  • Folder

  • Core Visual indicator

In addition to the Core Visual indicator, a notification banner appears at the top of the page stating that the RI Core Visual cannot be modified directly and must be cloned before changes can be made.

The Description summarizes the purpose of the Visual and the information it provides.

Modifying an RI Core Visual

Although you can run an RI Core Visual, preview results, and export data, the RI Core Visual cannot be modified directly.

When you open an RI Core Visual in the Visual editor, a notification indicates that the Visual cannot be modified and must be cloned before changes can be made.

To customize an RI Core Visual:

  1. Clone the RI Core Visual.

  2. Edit the cloned copy.

  3. Save the cloned Visual.

The cloned Visual becomes a standard RI Visual that can be edited, shared, and added to RI Boards.

For more information, see Editing an RI Visual.

Best Practices

When working with RI Core Visuals:

  • Review the Description to understand the purpose of the Visual before running it.

  • Use RI Core Visuals whenever they meet your reporting needs.

  • Clone an RI Core Visual to create a customized version while preserving the original.

  • Create a custom RI Visual when your reporting requirements cannot be met by an RI Core Visual.
