    Article summary

    What is Bundle Propagation?

Bundle Propagation involves the distribution of data from a primary account to other accounts in the bundle, which keeps the data synchronized.

    When does it happen?

Propagation occurs whenever a propagation event is triggered.

    The following are propagation events:

    • A new bundle member is added
    • A new account becomes the primary account
    • An account is updated with a change to a propagated account field.
    • A demographic is added/updated
    • A demographic address is added/updated
    • A demographic phone added/updated
    • A demographic email is added/updated

    What gets propagated?

The data that gets propagated is dependent upon the bundle propagation settings in the portal.

(menu: Setup - Accounts - Bundling,  section: Bundle Propagation).

    Best Practice
It is best practice for an agent to update/work from the primary account in the bundle. This will ensure that work performed is synchronized into all accounts in the bundle.

There are two main groups of data that Propagate: Account Fields and Demographics.

    Account Fields

The account fields selected will propagate in both directions. If the value is changed on any account in the bundle, the other members will be updated to match.

There are some exceptions to this rule as defined in the following table:

    FieldRule
    Important NoteUpdate other members
    Group IdentifierUpdate other members
    Posting NoteUpdate other members
    Next StepUpdate other members
Promise to Pay AmountUpdate other members
Promise to Pay DateUpdate other members
    Status CodeUpdate other members
    WorklistsUpdate other members
Next Work DateUpdate other members if new value is not empty
Primary AgentUpdate other members if they are not being overridden (by Worklist or Payment Plan - per settings in Agent Preferences)
    Score 1 - Score 5Update other members
    Do Not CallUpdate other members
    Do Not MailUpdate other members
    Do Not EmailUpdate other members

    Demographics

The demographics selected to propagate will do so in both directions, but with some slight variation. There are two modes of demographic propagation: Overlay and Merge.

    Overlay Propagation

Overlay propagation mode is used when the demographic is changed on the primary account in the bundle. In this mode, the data from the primary account will replace (or overlay) the data on the members.

    Merge Propagation

Merge propagation mode is used when the demographic is changed on a member other than the primary account. In this mode, the data will only populate empty fields on the members. It will not replace any existing data.

This mode of propagation will only occur if the two demographics involved do not conflict. They are considered in conflict if any of the following fields are populated and do not match:

    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Date of Birth
    • National ID (SSN)

Some customers may prefer to only merge the data once, at the time of bundling, rather than during every propagation event. These customers would need to disable the bundle propagation for those demographics and instead would need to select them in the Bundle Merge section of the bundling configuration page.
