Overview
Classifications identify the industry associated with a client's accounts. ACE uses classifications for reporting, workflows, credit reporting processes, dispute handling, and other classification-dependent functionality.
Classifications can be assigned at both the client and account level. The Client Classification serves as the default classification, while the Account Classification can be used to override the client classification for a specific account.
How Classification Works
ACE determines an account's effective classification using the following logic:
If an Account Classification is assigned, ACE uses the Account Classification.
If no Account Classification is assigned, ACE uses the Client Classification.
This ensures existing accounts continue to function as they always have while allowing specific accounts to use a different classification when needed.
Client Classification
Client Classification identifies the primary industry associated with a client's accounts and serves as the default classification for accounts placed by that client.
To view or update a client's classification:
Navigate to Clients → Profiles.
Open an existing client profile or create a new client profile.
Locate the Classification field in the Information section.
Select the appropriate classification.
Save the profile.

Account Level Classification
Account Level Classification allows a classification to be assigned directly to an individual account.
This is useful when a client places multiple types of debt but you want to maintain a single client record.
Add Classification to an Account
Open the account.
Locate the Debt Information section.
Locate the Classification field.
Select a classification.
Save the account.
The Classification field is optional.

Update an Existing Account Classification
Open the account.
Locate the Classification field.
Select a new classification or clear the field.
Save the account.
If the field is cleared, ACE automatically uses the Client Classification.
Medical-Specific Functionality
Medical-specific functionality is based on the account's effective classification.
When an account's effective classification is Medical/Health:
Medical reporting rules are applied.
The Insurance task link is available on the account sidebar.
Medical-related reporting and processing use the Medical classification.
If the effective classification changes to a non-medical classification, medical-specific functionality is no longer available.

The import supports matching classifications by label.

Permissions
Account Classification is controlled by the following permissions:

|---|---|
ACCOUNT_DEBT_CLASSIFICATION_VIEW | View account classifications |
ACCOUNT_DEBT_CLASSIFICATION_INSERT | Assign classifications when creating accounts |

Important Notes

Account Classification is optional.
When an Account Classification is assigned, it overrides the Client Classification for that account.
